Slots Rules
Slot machines are undoubtedly the most popular
gambling game there is, whether online or in a land-based casino. And just as
there are millions of slots players on the machines gambling right now as you read this, there are
just as many slot machines available to play. Selecting a suitable slot
machine can be one of the most difficult decisions for a gambler. Depending on
stake minimums, payout percentage and the payout table, the incentives of each
machine will vary from player to player. However, whether it be progressive jackpots,
bonus multiplier machines or multi-spin slots, the structure of the machines and
the rules of playing are relatively the same.
To
play a slot machine, the first thing you do
is place your bet by selecting the coin size of your wager. This value can
range from $.05 to $5, depending on the type of slot machine. This is
usually done by selecting up/down or +/- buttons, which when chosen, will
highlight the appropriate paytable. Next, you must
decide how many bets you would like to make on a single spin. A single bets
covers a single payline. Most machines have one to three paylines, yet many
newer machines can have over fifteen paylines. Therefore, on a five payline
machine, if the player is making $.25 bets, and is doing so on each payline, the
total amount wagered for a single spin will be (5 x $.25) $1.25. Also, keep in
mind that in order to be eligible for a progressive jackpot, you must bet on all
the paylines on the machine at once. This can be facilitated by
pressing the "Bet Max" button. Keep in mind that most casinos will default
variable stake slot machines at higher amounts. Be sure to check what
payout table is highlighted before you make the final bet.
After placing all bets, all you have to do is click
the mouse over the "Spin" button and watch the reels produce a winning
combination. In the case of multi-spin slot machines, after the initial spin, the
player will have the option of putting a 'Hold' on any of the reels. Then, the
reels without 'Holds' placed on them will be spun a second time to produce the
final machine results (this format is akin to video poker). Although the machine
will tell you when you have hit a winning combination, there is also a payout
table posted by the playing screen that shows all the possible paying
combinations. It is recommended that you always become familiar with the
payout table of each machine before betting real money.
