Online Casino Has Been
Shut Down by Sigma Chi
Sept. 15-06
The online casino witch has apparently proliferated
down to the collegiate level. The Sigma Chi fraternity has every intention to make
certain that web gambling folds.
Sigma Chi is one of the most well know and well reputed fraternity's in the
nation and the influence that the brotherhood has philanthropically is nothing
short of enormous. Apparently this has been recognized by an online gambling
site which bares the name of the fraternity among the copy on the site.
Penalty Box's owners Joshua D. Kilgrow and Troy Young, are the
individuals responsible for connecting the Sigma Chi Name to the online site.
Sigma Chi consequently has filed a lawsuit in the Salt Lake city district court
against them. This will place the online casino issue in both criminal and civil
court this month.
The casino website run by Kilgrow and Young
caters to online poker players and is distributed to web servers across the
country. The Sigma Chi organization wishes to reclaim the sigmachipoker.com, which is the sites
address, for the fraternity so that the trademark infringement will not
continue. Also as a means of reperation the fraternity wishes that the owners
pay any profits reaped by the casino site to philanthropic organizations
supported by Sigma Chi.
As of Thursday the site has been
inaccessible to the general public and although Kilgrow and Young. aren't
releasing any official statements as to whether or not this recent event has
anything to do with Sigma Chi's lawsuit, the time line of events would
definitely suggest it.
The President of Sigma Chi Mark
Anderson has made a statement to the public so that it is clear that any legal
action being exacted against the online casino is only being taken in order to
protect the good name of the fraternity
