Macau Casinos Will
Remain at Six
Sept. 7-06
Edmund Ho has finally made a decision
about the casino construction proposed last month in the
Australian City of Macau. The governor refuses to grant any more
gambling licenses to companies wishing to create more gambling
facilities in the Aussie city.
This move sits well with James
Packer's PBL company. The company has invested nearly three
million US dollars to building casinos in the area prior to the
competition moving in.
The city of Macau will allow the
current six major casinos that have been to continue their
operation.
The Governor has no desire for his
city to become the boisterous casino hub provided by the Las Vegas
strip. Ho feels that placing a cap on the number of casinos that
may be constructed will make certain that the number of gambling
facilities doesn't over run other qualities about the city.
Macau has been inundated with the ever
growing popularity of the "western style casino". It is becoming a
trend for casino houses overseas to emulate the style of the Las
Vegas trip. Although the charm of the Vegas themeing rakes in the
costumers, it has caused some apprehension with governor Ho who
wishes to preserve the identity of the city.
Not only will the move to limit
casinos be welcomed by the public, the current operating casinos
appreciate Ho's decision. The owners of the six business that
cater to Macau gambling needs are allowed to function freely
without worrying about spending excess on advertisement. Ho
explained that the restriction of the number of casinos built
means that there will be far less vicious competition.
