Mark Macarro,
Pechanga Chairman, is concern with the development of casinos on
Indian Reservations. He intends to drive his organization in
protest of the casino expansion. Macarro has recently felt a loss
because the current legislation will not allow current contacts to
be broken up.
Macarro is not
allowing his recent loss to stop him from moving forward to
protest the casinos among Native American reservations. He plans
to make the necessary moves in order to protest the issue in time
for the next round of legislation.
Many who oppose
casinos on reservations believe that the games have done great
harm to Indian families and other Californians in general.
Many Indian tribes do
not wish for the compacts to be agreed upon because they make a
generalized agreement that does work for all the casino sites on
varying reservations.
Community members are
attempting to subvert legislation by simply not voting on the
adoption of the work agreement compacts as they pertain to
casinos.
Law makers are taking
the stand of unification when it comes to creating policy for
reservation casinos in California. Government officials are not
convinced that personalized legal policy is going to solve the
problems posed by casinos.
Legal restrictions
are the only means the California government has come up with to
curb immoral practices among Native American Casinos. These
facilities will have adhere to the compacts for the time being
until further legislation ensues.
