facilities can not be denied. These buildings, whose primary
function is to provide gaming opportunities for tourists from all
over the world, exhibit a host of activities that the entire
family can enjoy.

is a common sight to see families waiting in line for movie
tickets at the theatre houses in many of the casinos. In another
city the mall, movie theatre, and bowling alley would be sprawled
in separate locations. These activities would have to have an
entire night devoted to them as it is difficult to commute from
one to the other and not waist the entire evening. In Las Vegas
these past times are usually housed in one casino.
There has even been a recent trend in the construction of
neighborhood casinos that cater to the suburban areas which
neighbor the gambling center of Las Vegas. These casinos are
geared toward local patronize and provide entertainment for the
entire household. The casinos in Vegas have become a social hub
for the community rather than creating a rift in family unity. The
community adapted to these conditions.
Many proponents for legalized gambling look to the current state
of the community in Vegas as an argument for further legislation
which permits the construction of casinos.
Many of the local residents, because of the smaller suburban
casinos, prefer never to visit the bustling Las Vegas strip at
all. They opt for thinner crowds. These facilities have their
regulars. Members of the community who know one another by name
and come to entertain themselves as well as their children.
Local casino owners observe that many of the gamblers who frequent
their establishments are more "sophisticated" than their tourist
counterparts. These gamblers, due to their frequent visits, know
exactly what they want in a machine and know how much money they
are willing to spend.
The Vegas community , although unique, operates under the same
principles as the communities all over the U.S. They have a
cohesive unit based on the need to be entertained. The residential
casino phenomenon has not yet gotten quite as much attention as
the big named casinos like the Bellagio. This, of course, suits
the local residents of Las Vegas just fine
