Senator's Mistakes Skew Online Casino Issue
As
if the issue of online casinos wasn't enough for the government to
deal with, the effects of the gaming industry are influencing the
government once more. Connecticut's Republican candidate for
Senator Alan Schlesinger's past seems to be creeping back up to
bite him. Apparently Schlesinger has moonlighted as a professional
gambler by the name of Alan Gold and run up a considerable tab at
a Native American casino in Connecticut.
This turn of events doesn't exactly shine a positive light on the
gambling issue which will hit the Senate floor in September.
Although the majority of Casino gamblers are responsible and
honest citizens, they clearly don't get as much press as high
profile abusers such as Schlesinger.
The recent revelation of Alan's sorted past will no doubt cost him
the candidacy for the Senatorial position. The other candidate
hopefuls do not so much promise. The representation on the Senate
floor is in serious jeopardy either way you slice it.
If
the land based casinos are causing this much commotion even though
they are completely legally forth with, what sort of implications
will this have in the upcoming debate over the prohibitive bill
passed by the house of representatives concerning online casino
transactions. It is hard to tell at this point how the senate will
react to the bill, but it is clear that their opinion will be
informed by the events that surround the issue.
Perhaps, it is possible for regulation to occur in respect to
online casino sites, that will allow for credible businesses to
continue running their lucrative sites.
