Online Casino Having Regulatory Difficulty
Law Makers who are for the prohibition
of online casino sites feel that regulation of the ever evolving
medium is next to impossible. Unfortunately for the businesses who
own stock in such companies, there is little consideration when it
comes to finding new policies that will involve monitoring
gambling sites.
Since the lines are blurred when it
comes to the legal validity of online casino sites, many web
masters are being prosecuted under the Wire Communications Act of
1961. This act was originally developed in order to regulate
gambling as it pertained to phone lines. This law is somewhat
valid when looking at the internet as a telecommunications tool.
The reasoning behind pushing the
restriction imposed by the act are logical only when the amount of
good business that has sprung out of internet gambling isn't
considered.
The bottom line is that U.S. based
casino gambling sites are feeling the pressure of lawmakers
deliberations. The American Gaming association is currently
providing no support for online companies. There is no mystery as
to why the association would not profit from electronic casinos
competing with land based facilities. However, the association
makes it clear that they merely do not back the online sites as
they exist today.
It is the AGA's contention that the
casino sites should not exists unless they are regulated. This is
all well and good, accept U.S. lawmakers are concerned that there
are not any viable means to regulate these electronic businesses.
Senator Harry Reid from Nevada
believes that online casino sites are still "ripe for the
cheating". This attitude could mean a premature death for
burgeoning businesses. The developing electronic gambling industry
maybe forced to find its home on foreign soil.
