Gambling Related Arson Bad for Casinos
An arsonists in
Tasmania claims that he doesn't remember gambling and drinking
away four hundred dollars the morning before starting a fatal
fire. Tony Laurence McLennan, the accused arson, has no memory of
his gambling binge before burning down a Backpackers
Hostel in Lancanston.
The crime
negatively links gambling to the criminal event. Although not the
primary concern of the criminal investigation, the association
does influence voters consciousness when it comes to the possible
allowance of more legal casinos in the U.S.
It is important to
note that the arsonist was not gambling in a casino facility, but
rather in an un-monitored environment. He played the casino games in
a Saloon. Police believe that the loss of money in the poker
game may have been a motivation for McLennan to commit burn the
hostel. Disgruntled because of his loss, he lost all
comprehension of consequence.
It is doubtful that
McLennan forgot that he gambled away four hundred dollars and
remembered burning down a building. The mystery lies in why he is
choosing to omit the his casino slot use from the events of the
day.
He is being
investigated to see if he has had a history of gambling addiction.
Tony did admit to having dropped fifty dollars at a time in the
Saloon. He claims that it helped him to forget about the rest of
the world around him.
Unfortunately, the
gambling wasn't enough. Apparently McLennan also had to burn
down a hostel in order to aid him in forgetting about his
problems. One could only speculate as to whether or not the
possible casino addiction is related to McLennan's arson. However,
it is apparent that his crime has done irrevocable damage to the
former hostel in Tasmania
