Florida is Pumping out Casino Patrons

It looks like Florida is good for more than just screwing up elections. In a recent poll the Sunshine State was rated fifth in generating tourists traveling to casinos across the United States. Having older occupants in the state with increased leisure time is profiting areas across the country that cater avid gamblers.

Florida generated over 12 million gambling trips in 2005 according to the reports compiled by Harrah's Entertainment Inc. The total number of casino visitation was estimated at around 322 million. The year prior Florida  ranked eleventh in the casino poll

The metropolitan area of Miami held up the brunt of the number of visitors for gambling purposes. Other cities in the state, such as Tampa and Orlando, ranked average in the number gambling tourists they turned out last year.

This puts Florida in the rank of some very popular states. New York, and Illinois both containing respectively the largest metropolitan areas in the country are among the states ranked in the poll.

This poll will no doubt effect casino advertisement in the future. Campaigns which cater to the taste of specific states would be an intelligent and innovative means to bolster even more tourists hitting casino floors. Also, areas that aren't ranked as high as cities like Miami and New York could be targeted as a means to increase profits.

Other aspects of the "gambling census" uncovered interesting facts about the average gambler. According to the study the average casino patron has received an education beyond high school and are not blue-collar workers.

If this demographic is correct, the kind of advertisement employed by casino will have to utilize an intelligent form of attraction as their consumer base is comprised majoritively of at least college grads.

Harrah's Entertainment Inc clearly didn't collect this data out of shear curiosity. The company owns Caesars casino brand and is responsible for the phenomenon that is "The World Series of Poker". This information will be of great use to them in the upcoming year. The company will surely take advantage of their acquiring knowledge and make the necessary endeavor to get more heads into their casinos.
