Casinos in Korea Raided Due to Scandal
Korea's leading casino slot machine
producer, Panda Iyagi, is under intense investigation. The company
has been accused of re-programming 450,000 of their machines in
order to increase the pay out rate beyond the legal limit. Several
of their machines have been confiscated for further investigation.
The casino gaming company got the go
ahead for their re-programmed slot-machines by the Korea Media
Rating Board. The KMRB was raided today as a means to flush out
any foul play.
Investigators suspect their has been
bribes given to the heads of the organization in exchange for a
license to sell gift certificates used for gambling at video game
arcades.
The Ministry of Culture and Tourism
may also face thorough investigation as there have been reports of
the Ministry coaxing casinos to ease up on their regulatory
adherence. This has given the investigation committee fuel to
continue their efforts and make as large a sweep as possible to
find who is responsible for the slot-machine fiasco.
The former director of KMRB was
charged with taking $10 million won in bribes from a casino game
developer. The amount of scandal in Korea concerning the casino
machines is making it difficult for Korean investigators to focus
their efforts.
The tracing of banking transactions,
and back tracking every sell beginning from each machines initial
programming can prove to be a rather daunting task. Investigators
are insuring the public that they are poised and ready to pull out
as much evidence as possible from the wayward slot machines.
I'm fairly certain KMRB officials are
waiting with baited breath as to the results of the investigation.
The time an money being spent is not creating a convenient
environment for business amongst Korean Casinos. Many of them will
their doors closed until the investigation is complete
