Black Pool Casino Expansion Undergoes Controversy
There is much controversy in Great
Britain over the expansion of the Black pool region as far as
casinos are concerned. The area is fast growing and in a few years
stands to be regarded as the Las Vegas of England. This
development is much to the dismay of religious organizations
and anti-gambling groups.
Recent changes in British law have
eased restrictions of casinos in the way of adverting and
construction. With this diffusion of political pressure the market
for the expansion of gambling facilities is a more than a viable
option in the Black Pool area. However, the law may have changed,
but the moralists apparently have not. There is great resistance
among religious members of the community who feel that any more
expansion would lead to the inevitable degradation. Never mind the
gain the community stands to profit financially, or that the
entertainment provided by these casinos are enjoyed by the whole
community no matter what their religious beliefs.
The balance in Black Pool of sin and
sanctity is at the moment just right for several members in the
community. Anything that could possibly tip the scales would be
considered intolerable. Unfortunately for these community
members, plans are already under way for the construction of new
casinos that will include amusement parks as apart of their
appeal.
The boom could produce several losses
in terms of people capitol. The inevitable will most likely occur.
The gambling addict who looses his livelihood over a roulette game
will no doubt rock the headlines of black pool as a result of the
casino expansion. Casino developers argue that this of course is
little more than the natural order of things. Much like a
restaurant opening would illicit a bolemic's episode of binge
eating. The fact of the matter is, the ailment existed before the
facility and was bound to come to fruition.
Mr. Fielding, one of the founding
members of the Black Pool Coalition Against Gaming Expansion,
speaks to the complimentary vices that accompany a casinos
popularity, "Its a tough town with all kinds of drug problems a
lot of alcohol abuse and poverty". Although these problems run the
risk of getting worse, The gaming companies of Black Pool are
putting their money on expansion
