Hollywood Agent Turned
Casino Pro
Jamie Gold, a Hollywood agent who began his
career in the entertainment business at the age of sixteen, is
trying his hand at poker. This game is more than a past time for
Gold who is focusing all of his energies on tournament play. He is
a formidable opponent, and a force to be reckoned with considering
his 3.9 million dollar pile of chips at the world series of Poker.
Gold is responsible for launching the career
of such talent as James Gandolfini and Jimmy Fallin. However, it
is quite possible that his success as a poker player will eclipse
his impressive accomplishments as an agent. Gold held the position
of table captain through the World Series. Out of a recorded 8,773
participants Gold leapt head and shoulders above the rest.
One of his table mates said of him, "He's
had great hands which he's gotten paid off". This sounds like a
venture in the art of seducing Lady Luck rather than an actual
strategy. Gold has quit his occupation as an agent to become a
television producer. At this rate, he'll be independently funding
his own television shows with the kitty he is earning as a part
time professional gambler.
It seems almost a little unfair that the
wildly successful agent should have the opportunity to be even
more wildly successful at a game many devote all their time
perfecting. Unfortunately, that is how the chips fall for Mr.
Gold. "I am all about poker", he says "every moment I'm not
working, I play". Hopefully for the future participants of the
Poker World Series, Jamie will be kept busy as a television
producer. Few people are afforded the opportunity to work in a
field that they love. Even fewer love what they do, and what
distracts from it.
James Gold has found an extracurricular
activity that will keep him smiling all the way to the bank. Las
Vegas may be ruled by a little Hollywood if Gold gears up to
continue his romp in the land of professional gamblers.
